A food management app called
Guffed
The hardest part about living in a big fraternity can be hard to know who is doing what chores and managing food wastage. So I designed an app that helps house members keep track of the food we bring and eat. It also helps us communicate better about the chores. This app makes sure we don't waste food and everyone gets the food they like. It's like having a special tool to make living together easier and happier!

Unnderstanding the problem
I interviewed 10 people from 3 different houses (2 cooperatives, 1 Greek house) to gather diverse perspectives. Key highlights from the interviews were used to create an affinity wall.
In a survey sent to house members, they expressed that managing and coordinating meals, as well as shopping for food, were time-consuming and expensive tasks. They also expressed significant concern about food wastage.
The below solution aimed to benefit house members by improving communication about food, reducing waste, and providing preferred options. The app helps general members, food stewards, and cooks utilize food effectively and prevent expiration waste.

“It’s so hard to keep a track of what is available in the house. I wish there was a way for me to sit in my room and plan the next days meal” - P4
Planner calendar
Users wanted a way to coordinate on the go and have one central place for reference when planning, food orders, meals and other related chores.
“ It’s so hard to coordinate house meetings and understand who actually needs a plate saved for them. When i come home my cook partner have oppositie schedules and don’t meet untill the day of our cook. ” - P1
Smart chat
Users needed a contextual chat and communication channel for all members. An AI powered chat could recognize all food related words and auto link them to inspirational webpages for inspiring meal planning.
“Sometimes I miss the context because we are an international student friendly house. My housemate calls an eggplant a brinjal. The first time I had no idea what he was saying! ”
